Rise Above
History - Rise Above started as The Cancer Support Group in 1985 when Yvonne Cuschieri started raising funds to enable 13 local teenagers with cancer to attend a CanTeen national camp. Over the years, the number of requests for help has been enormous, to support children and adults with cancer and to assist their families at a very difficult time.
What we do - Rise Above provides financial assistance and support to cancer patients and family residing within Canberra ACT, Queanbeyan and surrounds. Rise Above relies on fundraising, community partners, the generosity of businesses and the local community, to meet the needs of the increasing number of families that require our assistance.
Vision - To support cancer patients and their families through the provision of financial assistance, which specifically addresses the cancer patient’s medical prognosis/treatment program.
